Rehabilitated two-storey house in the village of Valencia del Mombuey in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura. A village of white houses in the middle of the Extremadura dehesa. The intervention has recovered from an old house, the essential and fundamental values of the vernacular architecture of this place. The roof, the whitewashed walls, with a predominance almost exclusively of the color white, the natural stone floors and the fireplaces, which in the past were used not only to heat the house, but also to cook.
The house has four rooms, each with a bathroom. Although the sleeping area is located on the upper floor, the last room is located near the entrance hall. The two fireplaces give a certain play of living areas, to be enjoyed in summer and winter. The old wooden beams will be recovered for the structure of the tiled roof. The patio houses a small swimming pool providing greater comfort for the hot Extremadura summers. The main room of the house, in double height, connects to this patio as an expansion of it, given that all the carpentry shops that close it in that direction are completely practicable for that purpose. The house on its facade, although it has clear features of modernity and minimalism, has respected the environment provided by this town with a predominance of whitewashed two-story houses.
